Secrets We Share S2E6: Alison

Alison is a professional organiser and life

coach that works in Canberra. After a career as a public servant and eight days of no communication from her daughter while she was recovering for knee surgery her priorities shifted and she decided to make a change in her own life.

We talked about her environmental activism as a younger woman and how that love of space and living a minimalist life has resulted in changes in loved ones are round her. It hasn’t always been an easy journey.

When talking about her work as Decluttr, we talk about how the impact of having a clean space also helps to clear the mind. We talk about how much of her work is about working with her clients to help them cope with the process and move towards their own decisions in their own time, rather than how some others work by dictation and how this can lead to many clients deciding that it’s all too hard and stressful. Decluttr works with private and NDIS clients.

In the Patreon bonus material we talk about Mr Fluffy and the impact the rules around moving out had a massive impact on one client.

Thank you to Alison for taking time out of her day to talk with me.

Thank you to Nick McCorriston for being my podcast guru and putting the thing together with music and intros.
