Lauren Gould

Lauren is a therapist who specialises in families, parents, adolescents, relationships, and anxiety. Lauren is based in Canberra and offers in person, phone, and online appointments. In her free time, you will find her reading a book, attempting yet failing to bake, talking to her plants, or spending time with her family.

Over the last few years, I have worn many hats, Mum, military wife, student, volunteer, and now Counsellor. These aspects of my life are what have led me to my interests in working with people and mental health.

I completed my Bachelor of Counselling with a major in Children and Families from Edith Cowan University in Western Australia and am currently studying my graduate diploma in Counselling through the University of Canberra. Within my time at Canberra, I have spent my time volunteering to support and guide parents through their parenting journeys. As a mother myself I have a true understanding of the challenges that come with the transition into parenthood and the journey that follows.

I also enjoy working with relationships and couples, whether that be marriages or mother and daughter, I offer a wide range of support and understanding for everyone. Whilst it is important to me to work with relationships and families, I do also enjoy working alongside individuals no matter the circumstance. My preferred method of therapy is Person-Centered however do use Cognitive Behavioural approaches when needed. I truly believe that we all have different needs at different times and because of this we need to adapt as we naturally evolve and develop through life.

When I am not working or studying you can find me with my family, hiding away reading a book, attempting to bake, but failing miserably and talking to my plants, I am proud to say I can keep a Fiddle Leaf Fig alive. These activities aid in me taking care of myself so that I can be the best version of myself for you.
